What is CBI

CBI is a shared-use commercial kitchen and business support program under Pacific Gateway Center, designed to help local food entrepreneurs prepare, produce, and operate successful food ventures. Our facility and  support clients from idea phase to full operations.

The primary goal of the Culinary Business Incubator was to increase earnings, create jobs and develop small businesses by providing sustainable employment opportunities in the food service industry. The Culinary Business Incubator offers start-up businesses the opportunity to explore food production without the high cost of buying their own equipment or constructing their own building. This facility will provide much needed technical assistance in food production as well as general business management skills. It’s an opportunity to expand existing businesses, create new ones and provide new jobs. Businesses nurtured at CBI are expected to "graduate" and relocate into the open marketplace. These successful individuals will then become a model for others in the community as a road to success.

CBI will provide low-income, disadvantaged and minority entrepreneurs with access to certified kitchens which they can use in several ways: to develop skills in food preparation and the use of commercial kitchen equipment; and to learn how to set up their own food businesses. CBI provides our participants with facility rental, storage facility, training, technical assistance, and 1 on 1 business development sessions.
